SolAero Technologies is a leading provider of high efficiency solar cells, solar panels, and composite structural products for satellite and aerospace applications. We are the world’s only vertically integrated, end-to-end supplier of satellite solar arrays. SolAero’s proven flight heritage, high-volume production capability, and technology position us to service the world’s most demanding satellite applications. Our space solar products have powered over 1,000 satellites in orbit to date.


SolAero has an immediate need for a Business Development Manager. This role is responsible for management of all business development activities, including identification, development, and support of new business opportunities for SolAero within the aerospace/space and defense industry.


  • Identify new aerospace/space customers
  • Present SolAero’s capabilities/experience to provide aerospace/space composite products (satellite structures, panel substrates, etc.) to new and potential customers
  • Identify and obtain RFPs from aerospace/space primes and other customers for new and continuing space mission and program opportunities
  • Develop strategies to win opportunities and work with internal personnel to execute strategies
  • Lead and/or participate in proposal activities, including generation of technical, management, cost, schedule, and proposal content for new business
  • Establish teaming arrangements with customers or other partners as required
  • Maintain ongoing relationships with customers to develop additional business opportunities
  • Travel as needed for business opportunities


  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field
  • 5+ years of experience working with contractors in the aerospace or defense industry
  • Experience in the space sector
  • Experience in manufacturing


  • Demonstrable record of success in business development, sales, program management and/or engineering spacecraft composites programs
  • Experience and/or deep understanding of engineering design or analysis is preferred
  • Experience and knowledge of space solar power products
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Must be personable, have the ability to interface well with customers, and present to large groups
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Suite products, including MS Project
  • General knowledge of industry specific technical requirements and quality requirements
  • Understanding of a manufacturing and engineering company, working in a manufacturing environment in the composites industry, and composite structures for space applications
  • General technical knowledge of engineering principles and how they apply to the product
  • Knowledge of typical customer requirements and associated technical solutions, needs, schedules, and costs
  • Ability to independently complete cost and technical proposals
  • Ability to develop cost estimates for build to print and design to specification programs


  • Frequently required to sit, stand and walk
  • Frequently required to use a computer, mouse and desk and/or hand-held phone
  • Work is typically completed in an office environment
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
  • Occasionally required to work in an outside environment such as a client’s job site, where appropriate PPE may be required
  • Occasionally required to visit the production floor, where walking and use of appropriate PPE may be required
  • Travel as required
