Maxar is seeking to hire a Software Engineer to join our Tactical Ground Programs team in Westminster, CO. [ROLE IS HYBRID: 2-3 DAYS ON-SITE] We are seeking a cross-functional team member who can interact with systems and software engineers, configuration management specialists, and system security specialists.
This technical team combines systems engineering, software engineering, and satellite downlink expertise to develop and deploy satellite imagery to remote GEOINT processing and exploitation ground systems.
This role involves designing and building new capabilities in addition to providing support, troubleshooting and enhancements for our deployed, integrated hardware and software systems. In this role, you will work in an Agile Scrum environment working across functional teams.
The software this team is responsible for will be used to control and status antennas, wideband receivers and other ground system equipment. The software is to be built in an event driven, cloud native architecture.
Responsibilities:
Integration of software services to support satellite image processing ground systems
Work in a fast-paced development environment as part of an Agile Scrum team
Work with a software team to create, integrate, test, orchestrate, and deploy microservice Kubernetes clusters to standalone environments
Assist in the development of test plans, procedures, and generate test data.
Utilize multiple scripting languages to automate integration, end-to-end testing, and deployment
Leverage various languages including Java, C++, and Python
Work with RESTful services in a containerized and/or virtualized environment
Interface with PostGres and Oracle databases
Responsible for software product design, development and validation, workflows, execution, analysis, and associated documentation
Required Qualifications:
Must be U.S. Citizen, with the ability to obtain a Secret clearance
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, business or related scientific or technical discipline with 0-5+ years of experience.
Familiar with software test strategies (manual and automated)
Technical background to perform all phases of software design, development, documentation, and implementation
Must have knowledge of Java, and Python languages and familiarity with RESTful services, message queues and relational databases
Must be comfortable designing, developing, integrating, testing, and deploying software in Docker and Kubernetes environments
Familiarity with Linux operating systems
Familiarity with configuration management tools like GIT, Stash, etc.
Ability to support occasional international or domestic travel
Strong verbal and written communication skills to work in a collaborative team environment
Ability to work in the Westminster, Colorado office
In lieu of a formal degree, this position will allow relevant experience. Master's Degree = 8 Year relevant experience. Bachelor's Degree = 6 Years relevant experience. Associates Degree = 3 years relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience operating as a part of a System Engineering, Integration, and Test (SEIT) group
Experience in container-based software environments (Rancher Kubernetes, Docker, Ansible, Terraform, Vault)
Experience with Atlassian Jira issue tracking software
Experience with Iron Bank Docker Containers and DoD Information Assurance, RMF Framework
Agile development and/or SCRUM experience
A drive for gaining new knowledge. Position will require an employee to learn and be knowledge on several different systems and tools
Passion for working in a collaborative design environment with a focus on quality and reliability
Experience working with Geographical Information Systems data
The compensation range for this position is
Junior-level = $61,000 to $101,000 annually,
Mid-level = $101,000 to $115,000,
dependent on skills and experience.
