The Team

Avionics – Launcher’s avionics group works to design, develop, test, integrate, launch and operate all the electronic hardware and software for our vehicles. This includes but is not limited to: flight software, flight computers, power conversion units, analog and digital circuit boards, FPGA HDL, RF communication units, GN&C sensors and actuators as well as enclosure and wire harness development. 

Our team is made up of the very best minds from the aerospace industry. We are experts in fault-tolerant spacecraft avionics and we’ve played significant roles within NASA/JPL’s avionics and robotics communities, SpaceX and Google. We’ve designed hardware and software for use on Earth, the International Space Station, in orbit around Earth's moon, Mars, Saturn and Jupiter. We’ve even driven rovers on Mars. The Role

As a Software Test Engineer you will be working under the direction of Launcher’s Avionics leaders to test avionics hardware, Launcher designed flight computers and the flight software for all Launcher vehicles. You will support ongoing propulsion testing and advance the development of our Avionics software test and simulation platforms for our products:Launcher Engine-2,Launcher Orbiter, andLauncher Light.

Responsibilities

• General

• Develop and maintain systems to support software testing on flight hardware.

• Develop and support simulations of Launcher vehicles.

• Develop test stands for hardware in the loop testing.

• Maintain testing lab and supplies.E-2 

• Engine

• Support engine testing at Stennis Space Center

• Support and upgrade test stand electronics and software.

• Orbiter

• Support Orbiter hardware and engine testing.

• Develop Orbiter simulation systems.

• Launcher Light

• Develop Launcher Light simulation environment and systems.

Required Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering or similar area of study.
• Strong C++ coding skills are a must. 
• Able to work in a Linux environment. Knows how to work in a continuous build and test environment and understand the tools used. 
• Familiarity with Git, Cmake, and GNU tools. Knows how to read schematics and hardware datasheets. 
• Hands-on experience with communication protocols such as UART, SPI, I2C, and USB.
• Skilled with National Instruments DAQs, Labview, Python, and TCP/IP.

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of Linux device drivers and uboot environment.
• Electronics wiring and soldering.
• Able to design and build simple printed circuit boards.
• Able to design and print simple parts on 3D printers.
