Responsibilities:

The BlackSky is building a remote sensing network to enable real time global insights on novel timescales by harnessing the power of high temporal persistence space architectures. Who you are:

• An accomplished leader of space development teams with at least 20 years experience. You have demonstrated experience leading multi disciplinary development teams across all stages of the systems lifecycle.  Experience leading teams through development to success supporting and advancing capabilities after launched.  You inspire your team in a hands-on fashion. You facilitate work in ways that counteract unconscious bias and lead to innovation.
• A demonstrated developer of talent across both engineering and product teams. You enable your team to do their best work via regular coaching, prioritization, mentorship, open communication, and empathy. You relish in providing positive feedback and celebrating wins with the team. You are comfortable providing critical feedback to improve performance.
• An adroit risk manager able to balance the complexities of complex development projects with the ambitious and aggressive goals of the business and serve our customers.
• A visionary leader who understands the potential of space remote sensing, but also realizes the need to evelate the space infrastructure to deliver a rapid, scalable and autonomous service. The ability to communicate that vision to customers and refine solutions to meet their needs.
• A builder of culture. You are passionate to recruit and hire a diverse team filled with driven, high performing individuals. You will shape engineering and program management practices across space disciplines and promote them within the team and across BlackSky.
• A clear communicator. You clearly articulate directives, both verbal and written, to your team and stakeholders. You are comfortable speaking with customers and end-users and understand that important tasks are rarely done alone. You understand and can manage programmatic requirements including forecasting, risk quantification and management, etc.
• You have strong opinions on business growth, technical and operational strategy and collaborate with C Suite leadership effectively to build and implement plans. Once a decision is determined you commit to its success.
• Curious and Engaging. You are never done learning and discovering techniques to advance our systems and team effectiveness.
• Detail Oriented. You are good at identifying edge cases in requirements and catching small problems before they grow into big ones. You dive deep into the details.
