Test Technician, Space Systems

As a test technician for Rocket Lab you will be involved in both acceptance and qualification of avionics assemblies for Launch Vehicles and Spacecraft. You will enjoy the satisfaction of seeing components you test reach to some of the furthest parts of our solar system.

Specifically, day to day tasks will involve functional testing, bench testing, vibration, thermal vacuum, thermal, EMC and radiation testing. Technical capability with testing equipment is critical to ensure all component are tested to the appropriate levels to be accepted for spaceflight. Superb hand skills are required with a good eye for detail to ensure all components meet the performance and quality requirements. You will need to enjoy achieving excellence in a collaborative team environment and not shy away from the pressure of attempting to do what may seem impossible.
Required Experience & Skills  

  • Industry or trade certified
  • 3+ years of experience in electronic component testing for aerospace applications
  • Talented with electronics assembly tools, bench testing and measuring instruments
  • Experienced in qualification and acceptance of components through thermal and vibration
  • Excellent time management and the able to work overtime and long hours if needed
  • Eye for detail and a methodical, tidy and careful work ethic

 Preferred Skills & Experience  

  • 5+ years of industry experience with vibration tables, vacuum and environmental chambers
  • Experience with space grade electrical assemblies
  • Experience with Labview
  • Knowledgeable in lean manufacturing and 5S principles
  • Experience with TVAC chambers, EMC testing and Radiation testing
