As the Sr. Manager of In-Space Bio Manufacturing, you will be helping to create lifesaving and life enhancing biomedical and pharmaceutical products that can only be developed in microgravity and will fuel development of a multi-billion dollar commercial economy in low Earth orbit. You will be scouting new market sectors where Sierra Space’s in-space platforms, transportation systems, and technologies will enable disruptive capabilities, create new markets, and foster scientific and technological breakthroughs across an array of biopharma, biotechnology, and bio manufacturing industry applications, products, and services. This role is a combined search and deal execution role, and we are seeking an individual with experience identifying business opportunities and aggressively completing transactions. Targeted transactions can take the form of new customer acquisition for use of Sierra Space assets and services, in-licensing, asset acquisitions, strategic collaborations and/or company acquisitions. Sierra Space, based in Louisville, Colorado with operations in Madison, Wisconsin and Durham, North Carolina, designs and manufactures advanced spacecraft, satellites, propulsion and environmental systems, spacecraft subsystems and components for the U.S. government (including NASA), commercial customers and international organizations. Role and Responsibilities

  • Identify new bio manufacturing, biotech, biopharma and related market sectors that Sierra Space should sell into

  • Effectively leads the transaction process (approach, opportunity assessment, due diligence, valuation, deal negotiations, internal governance processes, closing process and integration planning for key initiatives)

  • Perform market analytics, including analyses on market sizing, research on specific companies or products, track industry deal news and identify appropriate business development contacts at potential companies

  • Stays abreast of emerging healthcare & pharmaceutical industry trends and assess their potential impact on business strategies

  • Reach out to key players in related fields, and be the Sierra Space ambassador to them

  • Speak at industry conferences about the use cases and value of the environment of space and microgravity as an R&D tool, and how Sierra Space assets can provide turnkey solutions and technologies to access this environment.

  • Contribute to establishing and achieving the annual business development and sales goals

  • Travel as necessary within and outside the U.S., up to 50%.


  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in a life sciences discipline, PhD preferred

  • Additional equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of education

  • 5-10 years of progressively responsible sales and marketing experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation skills and MS Office Suite and database skills


  • Strong knowledge of and relevant sales experience in biopharma and drug development, bio manufacturing and biotechnology, and related scientific fields like stem cell R&D and regenerative medicine

  • Excellent financial analysis and research skills and ability to translate analyses into sound strategic recommendations

  • Enthusiastic about pitching, negotiating, and closing new business opportunities (please include a deal sheet or examples of deals closed with your application if available)

  • Ability to work in a results-oriented, project-driven, real-time team environment, prioritize projects and deliver quality results within given time lines and schedules

  • Knowledgeable about contractual terms and execution is preferred

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
