As our Mechanical Engineer III you’ll be intimately involved in the early design and layout of the structure of the inflatable habitat and related subsystems. You’ll be utilizing CAD design tools to come up with the design and layout of this new project. Your concepts and ideas will become the basis for the vehicles used for people living and working in space. How cool is that!

Become part of this team developing the first independent commercial space station, the Orbital Reef and the large expandable habitat module. The Orbital Reef is based on our Large Integrated Fabric Environment or _LIFE_TM habitat and Node modules, serviced by _Dream Chaser_® spaceplane, and will provide the facilities and services for commercial research, manufacturing and tourism.

Bachelor's of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering discipline and typically 3 or more years of relevant experience; Higher education may be considered in lieu of experience; Additional equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of education.
Must have experience with CAD software, (i.e. Catia, NX, SolidWorks
Experience related to building, producing, and manufacturing aerospace/aircraft/spacecraft products
Practical Knowledge of engineering principles and practice
Familiarity working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams
Experience applying and interpreting Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5
Understanding of Engineering Simulation such as Finite Element structural Analysis (FEA), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Thermal Analysis
Experience working on large aerospace structures.
Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry
Knowledge of industry-standard mechanical design principles, to include, but not limited to parametric design, model-based definition, material hardware selection, manufacturing, and production processes

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $76,956.28 - $105,814.89
