The Team

Launcher is actively seeking a Business Development Manager to support our product offerings.  

The Role

Based at Launcher's headquarters in Los Angeles, California (Hawthorne) the Business Development Manager will conduct sales activities, lead proposal development, and ensure customer satisfaction through the entire mission lifecycle. As a member of the Business Development team, you will have experience in the aerospace or related industry and can excel as a technical subject matter expert. In this role, you will combine project/program management, technical skills, product knowledge, and sales acumen to grow the business of Launcher across the full spectrum of customer segments both commercial and government as well as foreign and domestic. Applicants should have the ability to find opportunities where they are not clearly defined, experience in internal process definition and improvement, excellent communication skills, and be able to represent Launcher at conferences and tradeshows. This is a high-impact, customer-facing role that will contribute significantly to the growth of Launcher and the success of our missions. 

As part of the Business Development team at Launcher, this role will work closely with the leadership, engineering, and product development team. This role will require up to 20% of travel globally with the potential to increase at times. 

Responsibilities

  • Manages customer contract execution, from initial customer contact through completion of the mission.
  • Meet and exceed sales metrics.
  • Manage and maintain internal sales tools and dashboards.
  • Collaborate with the Communications & Marketing team in creating Orbiter and Launcher Light marketing material and strategic communications. 
  • Remain up-to-date on the latest space systems competitive landscape and market, determine pricing, and formulate strategic direction. 
  • Expand existing business opportunities and nurture relationships with existing customers. 
  • Develop and present bid/no-bid strategies, and manage proposal planning, preparation, and submission. 
  • Represent Launcher at public events such as industry conferences and speaking engagements.
  • Organize and conduct customer development activities such as customer meetings, facility tours and product demonstrations.
  • Support customer program deliverables such as status updates and milestone reviews. Responsible for crafting and presenting both programmatic and technical material.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree (science or engineering degree preferred). 
  • 2-5 years of experience in sales and relationship management in aerospace or other related technical fields.
  • Experience in crafting presentations which includes building out compelling storylines, presenting data to audiences, and pushing the key messages.
  • Strong ability to prioritize and successfully drive a sale or project from beginning to end and to work across multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to thrive in a startup environment with the ingenuity to define and implement efficient processes for effective work execution in a matrixed cross-functional environment.
  • Self-motivated and creative solutions-focused mentality.
  • Passion for the space industry and changing “business-as-usual” paradigms.
  • Direct experience with small spacecraft and launch vehicle design and manufacturing.
  • Possess a strong understanding of business-to-business sales processes, best practices, pipeline management, and technical proposal writing.
  • Ability to discuss technical systems and practical applications to a variety of audiences.
  • Possess a security clearance or the ability to obtain one.

As we must adhere to the U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations, you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
