As part of a diverse and hardworking team of engineers, you will build and develop a team responsible for testing Blue's rocket engine hardware at Edwards Airforce Base AFRL. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of rocket engine testing.

As the test team manager, your responsibilities will include establishing the team and on-site presence, hiring, performance management, task/project management, training and provide tools for career development. You will lead engine test operations across multiple test cells by scheduling resources and prioritizing engine work. You will develop technical processes, standard methodologies and tool development around focused areas of engine testing. You will assist programs with resource planning. You will establish, supervise, document and improve processes. You will be a non-advocate domain specialist for programs during reviews and failure investigations.

To be successful in this role, you will need to communicate and coordinate between multiple engine program teams and the operators of the test facilities. You will have a proven record to lead an engineering team that performs sophisticated rocket engine testing.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum B.S. degree in engineering or science (aerospace, mechanical, chemical, nuclear, or physics desired)
  • 8+ years of experience in an aerospace or nuclear testing environment
  • Proven track record in developing teams
  • Ability to be self-directed and balance several tasks at one time
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Strong technical fundamentals in fluids and thermodynamics
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering standards, technical requirements and drawings
  • Familiarity with data analysis
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Desired:

  • Experience managing personnel, budgets, and test resources
  • Solid understanding of rocket engines and components
  • Experience with discrepancy reports, failure investigations, and corrective actions
  • Familiarity with rocket engine system operations, verification test process and risk management
