The Opportunity 

The Radar Maintenance Engineer, will execute maintenance activities at existing LeoLabs Radar Sites. The main goal of the Radar Maintenance Engineer is to maintain the upkeep and sustainability of our existing network of radar systems. This person should have a background in electrical or computer engineering or equivalent experience. This role will be responsible for helping lead and mentor the Radar Maintenance Technician, who will be there to execute general radar site maintenance activities and act in a supporting role to the Radar Maintenance Engineer. This position is also encouraged to assist with the re-design of current and future radar components. The Radar Maintenance Engineer, will become a part of the LeoLabs Radar Operations Center and help resolve operational maintenance issues reported by the Radar Operations Engineers. The Radar Operations Center is responsible for maintaining the health, safety, availability and data flow of the LeoLabs Network of Radar Systems. Our long term vision is to grow the Radar Operations Center in such a way that it accommodates the LeoLabs growing Network of Radar Systems, while maintaining maximum uptime and availability. The Radar Maintenance Engineer should have a passion for working with their hands, travel and helping improve the operation of our existing radar sites. We are looking for someone that is a motivated, self starter.


  • B.S., M.S in electrical or computer engineering or equivalent experience is acceptable
  • Knowledge of power systems, electrical systems, HVAC units 
  • Experience with creating routine maintenance plans for sustained upkeep of operational sites
  • Familiar with responding to trouble tickets, bringing onsite issues to resolution
  • Experience with inventory systems and meantime between failure for existing equipment
  • Creating process and procedure for maintenance activities 
  • Design and build radar site components as necessary
  • The ability to travel nationally and internationally to conduct maintenance activities in remote locations on short notice
  • Clean driving record and ability to rent cars internationally. Capable of driving manual transmission vehicles

Preferred qualifications

  • Background working in data centers or satellite ground stations

  • Experience with solid works, CAD, or similar programs

  • Knowledge of PDM systems and Bill of Materials

  • Experience with agile methodologies

Within 1 month, you’ll: 

  • Complete our onboarding program designed to get you up to speed on our business, vision and team

  • Gain an understanding about how your role fits into LeoLabs broader organization

  • Begin to understand the fundamentals of the Leolabs Network of Radar Systems

  • Travel to an existing radar site to assist with upgrades and maintenance

Within 3 months, you’ll: 

  • Travel out to our newest sites to assist in the build and construction

  • Begin to develop an in-depth understanding of our radar sites

  • Begin building maintenance plans for existing sites

Within 6 months, you’ll: 

  • Create a repository for current radar components and meantime between failure

  • Execute standard maintenance procedures onsite

  • Actively be developing process and procedure for maintenance activities

  • Travel to multiple existing radar locations for maintenance and upgrades

Within 12 months, you’ll:

  • Execute maintenance procedures onsite, as requested by the Radar Operations Manager

  • Visit all of our existing radar sites for active maintenance
