This is a hands-on Propulsion Test Engineer who will aid the development of propulsion systems at Momentus.  We are seeking candidates with strong mechanical, electrical, thermal, or fluid background, or preferably have experience with propulsion systems or spacecraft design.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Aid the development of test equipment and procedure for propulsion components and systems (mechanical and electrical design, test campaign procedure, test software etc.) from initial concept to assembly, integration, and test
  • Develop scripts to automate test procedures and display results based on test success criteria
  • Participate in engineering reviews of propulsion components and systems
  • Define and execute test plans for acceptance, qualification, and endurance testing of propulsion systems and components
  • Participate in the qualification, integration, and testing efforts of propulsion systems and components¬†
  • Assist in the definition and documentation of assembly and manufacturing processes
  • Work with other engineers to drive components and subsystems to flight maturity

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • BS in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or the equivalent
  • Very hands-on: desire to be involved with design, test, and assembly
  • 2-5 years of experience with engineering design and test, preferably with in-space propulsion systems
  • Competence with test/automation software (Labview, python, etc.)
  • Nice to have: good understanding of RF power, especially microwave waveguide components and vacuum tubes, fluids, thermal analysis, vacuum systems, and/or plasma

This is a full-time position in San Jose, California. This position requires access to export-controlled commodities, technical data, technology, software, and services. U.S. citizenship, U.S. legal permanent resident status, or protected person status under 8 U.S.C. √ā¬ß 1324b(a)(3) is required
