Capella is seeking a Sr. CloudOps Engineer to join our CloudOps team. In this role, you will design and support the infrastructure collaboratively with DevOps/Software/Security teams to provide incident response, change management, and continuous availability across the Capella services. You will be responsible for the cloud infrastructure design while implementing security and DR/BC best practices.

What you will be working on:

  • Building scalable and reliable cloud infrastructure via IaC.
  • Working collaboratively with the security team to ensure all infrastructure meets compliance and governance standards.
  • Maintain current monitoring and alerting solutions while contributing new and more efficient tools.
  • Participate in blameless retrospectives and mentor new CloudOps engineers.
  • You will work cross-functionally with the various teams to design and deploy infrastructure that supports the Capella services.
  • Create both informational and detailed design documentation.


  • 5+ years of Linux administration experience.
  • 5+ years of experience working in AWS.
  • Good communications skills, ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, and enjoyment of learning from and teaching other teams new skills.
  • Experience deploying containerized services (Docker/Kubernetes) in the cloud utilizing CI/CD technology.
  • Proven experience deploying and configuring Kubernetes(kops) clusters at scale.
  • Experience designing and configuring networks for Cloud environments.
  • History working with infrastructure technologies (Ansible, Terraform, Kubernetes, ElasticSearch, Redis, Grafana, Prometheus, etc.)
  • Proven experience hosting database clusters in the cloud. (MongoDB and InfluxDB)
  • Participate in on-call duties.

Nice to have:

  • Prior GitLab experience.
  • Experience in database administration.
