As part of the hardworking and diverse New Shepard Avionics team, you will design, develop, and verify high-performance Avionics hardware for various flight vehicles. You will be integrated with our rocket program and technical leads to drive requirements definition, modeling, analysis, design, test, and production release of on-vehicle RF radio and antenna components. Your responsibilities in this position will encompass RF/communication system requirements, architecture concepts, detailed design, development and test. In addition, you will follow avionics designs through formal verification, environmental qualification, and production release, and participate in flight support activities.

As a senior engineer, your responsibilities will go beyond the technical aspects of the position. You will mentor and coach other avionics engineers within the team and across Blue Origin, and well as support team leads with the modification and implementation of team standards, processes and plans.

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Physics or related disciplines
  • 5+ years of experience with RF system design, including a strong background in communication principles
  • Hands-on experience with Network and spectrum analyzers, RF cabling and harnesses and printed circuit board constraints due to EMI/EMC phenomenon.
  • Additional background with high speed analog, digital and mixed-signal circuit analysis, simulation, design, test, troubleshooting, signal integrity, power, and grounding and general board layout principles
  • Background developing complex circuit cards, consumer electronics, wireless devices, or other advanced electronic commercial or aerospace products
  • Desire to work hands-on, both independently and as part of a team, throughout the development and production phases of the electronic assembly product lifecycle
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum – this is a strict requirement


  • Master of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Physics or related disciplines.
  • 8+ years of experience in design, development, test and operation of vehicle RF Avionics systems.
  • Demonstrated experience specifying and designing high reliability safety-critical electronics; familiarity with IPC-A-600/610, DO-254 and similar standards
  • Background with launch vehicle Avionics systems hardware development, integration, and test
  • Previous design of antenna systems and antenna pattern analysis
  • Experience with Software-defined radios, HSPICE and HFSS (or similar modeling/analysis tools), Python, Scripting
