What You’ll Do: 

Reporting to the Head of Shared Services, the successful candidate will be involved in developing and maintaining centralised CD solutions, and advising development teams on their CI processes, standardising where possible and/or providing centralised tooling and guidance in its use. 

The successful candidate will also be involved in automating the provisioning and configuration of cloud infrastructure, and for training other teams in the use of CI and CD tooling and supporting their migration from legacy tooling where applicable. 

As a senior member of the Shared Services team, you will be a leader in your field, engaging directly with senior stakeholders as well as development teams, and actively promote the tools and services provided by Shared Services to the wider organisation. You will act as a mentor for members of your team as well as developers from other teams and be proactive in defining, coaching and promoting best practices. 

You will: 

  • Engineer complete CD solution (and, where applicable, CI solutions) using a combination of open-source and commercial technologies and in house developed tools as appropriate. 
  • Train and support other delivery teams in the use of Shared Services tooling. 
  • Develop and maintain the automated provisioning of Shared Services components. 
  • Ensure all systems are highly available, resilient and backed up. 
  • Champion the Shared Services "secure by design" approach to software development and integrate security analysis and testing tools into delivery and deployment pipelines. 
  • Work with Monitoring and Ops teams to define monitoring requirements and ensure an effective support model, coaching not policing teams for continuous improvement 
  • Coach more junior members of the team in technology and working practices. 
  • Research new technologies and assess suitability to be incorporated into future solutions. 
  • Work with stakeholders to understand their needs and continually improve the product offering.


 What it takes: 

The ideal candidate has gained 3-5 years of experience working in agile technical teams and has the following skills: 

  • Strong background in Linux/Unix Administration 
  • Expert knowledge of CI and CD concepts and tooling - e.g. GitHub, JFrog Artifactory, Sonatype Nexus, Harness, Spinnaker. 
  • Solid understanding of cloud security models and best practices 
  • Good understanding and experience of modern CI and CD methods and approaches, particularly across a hybrid environment of serverless, container and VM delivery models. 
  • Understanding of software development and build/release management in private and public cloud 
  • Excellent knowledge of modern Configuration Management approaches and tools (e.g. Harness, Vault, KMS, CloudFormation) 
  • Experience of infrastructure provisioning tools and processes (Terraform, CloudFormation, Packer) 
  • Understanding of containerisation principles and frameworks (e.g. Docker) 
  • Excellent scripting skills (e.g. Bash, Python, Ruby) 
  • Experience with AWS services and technologies would be highly advantageous 
  • Experience in working with Agile methodologies and DevOps principles 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Excellent organisational skills


Where you’ll be: 

  • In our London, UK office. 
  • We are open to discussing the possibility of remote working 75% of the time. 
  • Some international travel may be necessary.
