About the Space Systems R&D Team

The Space Systems R&D Team is a multidisciplinary team within the Engineering department. We keep our eye out for the state-of-the-art technologies and bring them to the space vehicle to implement the product road map. Members of the team work across the organization to collaborate on requirements and implementation approaches to deliver innovative new systems.

About the Role

We seek an enthusiastic spacecraft systems engineer to join our Space Systems R&D Team. The successful candidate will own the technical baseline for a vehicle across the life cycle. The candidate will work across engineering and business disciplines to refine system requirements and flow them down to subsystem designers and owners. The candidate will also work extensively with the operations team to prepare operations for system evolutions and improve on-orbit experience.

A successful candidate does not need to meet all these requirements, but should be able to highlight experience in many of these areas.

  • 10+ years prior systems engineering experience, preferably in a systems leadership role
  • Deep knowledge in at least one functional area such as GNC, FSW, Thermal, Mechanical, electrical etc.
  • Maintain system budgets such as power, data, mass, propulsion, pointing etc.
  • Experience with fishbone fault analysis techniques
  • Experience leading or working in teams for anomaly resolution
  • Experience writing requirements in lean system environments
  • Understanding of the full project life cycle
  • Experience with subsystem or system level AI&T
  • Experience managing technical teams
  • Ability to perform trade studies and parametric analysis
  • Comfortable with python
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn
