**SUMMARY**

**Firefly Instrumentation/Controls Engineers within the launch group leverage their creative background and expertise to design controls and instrumentation systems used to support integration, test & launch of Firefly vehicles.** In this role you will be responsible for evaluating, developing, designing, building, installing, and servicing vehicle and ground control systems for the Firefly test & launch team.

The Electrical Ground Systems Equipment (GSE) Engineer will be responsible for the electrical design, development, test, and qualification of instrumentation, control, and power systems in support of test & launch operations. Duties will require close coordination with electrical technicians, test operations and production teams to facilitate equipment tests required for test & launch operations. You will ultimately be responsible for equipment specification, electrical design, and implementation of test stand upgrades/improvements, as well as the generation and maintenance of GSE electrical drawings.

The ideal candidate for this position possesses a thorough grounding and experience with low voltage electrical design, troubleshooting, and a functional knowledge of electronic, electromagnetic, digital signals, digital data transport, and data management systems to ensure internal and external communication of data is configured in the most effective and reliable way. You will have full ownership of your project from the initial concept through all phases of the design, analysis, implementation and operations of your systems. Rockets don�t fly without your support equipment!

**RESPONSIBILITIES**

*   Design, develop, test and introduce the controls, human-machine interface, data acquisition and PLC systems for equipment involving mechanical, electrical, electronic controls and fluid handling systems
*   Generate instrumentation and control system drawing packages for projects. These drawings include Control and I/O diagrams, instrument and control cable schedules, instrument loop diagrams, junction box wiring diagrams, control panel layout and wiring diagrams
*   Obtain and evaluate Launch Range standards for all required instrument, data transport and electrical equipment to be purchased for projects
*   Obtain and evaluate vendor quotations for all required instrument and electrical equipment to be purchased for projects
*   Create and conduct in-house testing and development of equipment
*   Work as a team, with both technicians and launch & test personnel in performing check outs and commissioning of installed instrument and electrical systems, including the calibration and/or configuration of instrument devices
*   Work with operations team to ensure compliance with all regulatory and safety requirements, proper and timely build of equipment, and cost reduction in design
*   Handle all controls and communications aspects of installation, including pre-installation site surveys, controls installation preparedness, personnel training, engineering support to technicians, and equipment commissioning
*   Perform site checkouts for test & launch operations and support launch and test day as needed
*   Travel to test & launch sites as required to support the overall program

**QUALIFICATIONS**

**QUALIFICATIONS**

**Required**

*   Bachelor of Science (BS) in electrical or mechanical engineering, or 5 years direct experience
*   Experience with wire harness 3D design, wire harness installation drawings, wiring diagrams, and 3D modeling of complex multi-breakout harnesses.
*   Proficiency with various harness design software platforms
*   Competent at end-to-end definition and selection of connectors, wires, and other harness hardware.
*   Familiar with the usage of test equipment to verify harness design

*   Knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620 harness design and fabrication standards

**Summary:**

As the Lead Tube Fabrication Technician (OTW) your job is to ensure the proper flow of work based off the company�s priorities and milestones. Anticipate problems before they arise and mitigate any potential production blockers. You�ll work closely with Fluid Systems Engineers and the Fluid Systems Manager to ensure that the build process is being performed to according to the instructions and coming up with ways to improve the team. This work primarily includes the fabrication of complex fluid system assemblies.

**Responsibilities:**

*   Identify process improvements and ensure operations are lean, efficient and effective
*   Ensure all production services are performed on time, safely and in a professional manner.
*   Collaborate with manufacturing and design engineers to develop and improve the orbital tube welding and plumbing procedures.
*   Clean and passivate hardware using means such as solvent/chemical, mechanical, ultrasonic, and precision cleaning methods.
*   Safely work with hazardous systems, containing chemicals and/or high pressure
*   Be able to hand fit and tack weld parts together with TIG welding as required
*   Ability to visually inspect welds and verify quality utilizing borescopes and other inspection methods
*   Develop weld schedules for various systems and components
*   Setup, operate, and maintain orbital tube welding equipment
*   Cut and prepare all tubing and fittings used in welding operation
*   Perform hydrostatic and pneumatic tests per operational instructions
*   Maintain a clean work environment

**Qualifications:**

*   5+ years of orbital welding experience
*   5+ years experience in aerospace or related fields
*   Experience with AWS D17.1 and or similar fusion welding or orbital tube welding specifications.
*   Ability to use standard mechanical tools, fabrication shop equipment (band saw, grinders, and drills, etc.)
*   Capable of using precision tools to accurately measure tight tolerances (calipers, height gauge, scales, etc.)
*   Familiarity with tube fabrication (bend, flare, fittings, etc.) and pressurized system safety
*   Ability to read and understand aerospace 2D/3D drawings
*   Demonstrated leadership abilities

**Desired:**

*   Experience measuring and inspecting tube assemblies using a vector measuring machine
*   Working knowledge of a variety of tube/fluid applications including GN2, GHe, hydraulics and cryogenics

Propulsion Integration & Test Engineers are responsible for the successful assembly and test of Firefly�s liquid rocket engines. This requires the engineer to work cross-functionally with the design, production, test, analysis, and launch teams. The ideal candidate for this role is well-rounded in fundamentals of engineering, has hands on production & test experience, and strong communication & leadership skills. As the focal point for engine level assembly & development, qual, and ATP test campaigns, you will be responsible for delivery of reliable engines to the vehicle and improving the processes associated with that task. *   Responsible for the delivery of acceptance tested engines to the launch vehicle integration team
*   Lead engine development, acceptance, and qualification test campaigns. Includes the development of auto-sequences, executing engine hot-fire testing (on console), solving real time issues while the engine is on/off of the stand, and helping to plan/schedule test campaigns

Propulsion Development Engineer

**SUMMARY**

Firefly Propulsion Engineers serve as Responsible Engineers in the development of Firefly�s rocket engines, which will power Firefly�s disruptive launch vehicles.  You will have a meaningful leadership role in all aspects of engineering development � from conceptual design through flight testing. 

Responsible engineers guide designers and analysts to produce components that meet requirements. Parts are fabricated through coordination of Propulsion Engineers and Manufacturing engineers.  Firefly Propulsion Engineers and Test Engineers work together to test fully integrated engines at Firefly�s state of the art rocket test site.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**

*   Serve as Responsible Engineer for an engine system or major engine subsystem, with responsibility to deliver complete propulsion systems according to launch vehicle program plans
*   Develop analytical models to predict engine performance and operating characteristics
*   Create conceptual designs of engines and components
*   Work with Firefly Design and Analysis Engineers to mature conceptual designs and create engineering definition of engine and component designs which meet vehicle requirements
*   Collaborate with Firefly Manufacturing and Test Engineers to fabricate and test propulsion systems and verify that these systems meet launch vehicle requirements

Lead Propulsion Engineer

**SUMMARY**  

As a Firefly Communications Engineer, you will be responsible for the development, test and verification of the communications systems including the S-Band downlink, GPS receiving system and the Flight Termination receiving system and all associated RF hardware. This includes architecting these systems, selecting hardware solutions, working with suppliers to procure hardware, develop test plans and procedures to validate performance including compatibility testing at the launch site and ground station provider. Your contributions will directly affect mission success.   

**RESPONSIBILITIES**   

*   Specify, analyze, implement, troubleshoot, and test of RF flight hardware and ground equipment and components ranging from baseband to C-Band.  
*   Design communication system architecture, including link and noise budget analysis, frequency planning, and interference analysis. Analyze configurations and create trade studies for transmit and receive communication systems. Measure RF performance at system and module level.  
*   Perform end-to-end definition, requirement generation, block diagram design, component selection and evaluation, electrical and electromagnetic simulation and analysis, testing and troubleshooting of RF and communication subsystems.  
*   Work with the rest of the vehicle Avionics team to integrate RF systems into the whole architecture   

**QUALIFICATIONS**  

**Required:**   

*   **Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (EE) or Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE).**  
*   **Minimum of 4 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a preferred emphasis in RF hardware development or testing. The ideal candidate would demonstrate proficiency in RF hardware development, analysis and simulation in addition to troubleshooting and test experience for RF hardware.**  
*   Experience using RF test equipment, such as signal generators, signal analyzers, vector network analyzers, oscilloscopes, power meters and amplifiers, loads, etc.  
*   Ability to effectively communicate and present design and analysis to multiple audiences  
*   A great attitude, intelligence, and willingness to work hard can substitute for some of these requirements    

**Preferred:**   

*   Experience with RF systems in an aerospace context  
*   Familiarity with GPS receivers is desirable  
*   Experience with the implementation of RF designs in and above Ku- and Ka-Band within a larger architecture  
*   Familiarity with ANSYS RF Designer and HFSS or similar  
*   Experience with Low Noise Amplifiers, Mixers, Vector Modulators, Receivers, Solid State Power Amplifiers, Phase Locked Loops, Frequency Synthesizers, Frequency, etc.

**SUMMARY**

We are looking for a Loads and Dynamics Engineer to help with analyzing all aspects of the dynamic loading and response of launch vehicles and payloads while also working with the test and launch teams to verify results for continuous refinement of remodels based on test and flight data.  This will include the lower frequency load cases of Coupled Loads Analyses (CLA) as well as the higher frequency analyses associated with dynamic environments (shock and vibration.) We are looking for innovative engineers who are motivated to find ways to optimize and automate the CLA process for our customers, driving down the timeline, complexity and cost or traditional processes by an order of magnitude.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**

*   Create finite element models (FEM) of the launch vehicles and payloads
*   Develop and apply the forcing functions for all flight events, including aerodynamic loads, TVC, gust, buffet, and stage separation
*   Perform dynamic analysis using FEMAP/Nastran (modal, frequency response, random, SRS, transient)
*   Work directly with payload providers to ensure that the Launch Vehicle and spacecraft are compatible.
*   Coordinate with the relevant teams to tailor spacecraft testing requirements, tune hardware, add custom isolation, and/or perform model refinement to address specific customer sensitivities
*   Develop well documented scripts for postprocessing analysis results into loads and other output products using MATLAB/Python
*   Provide guidance for experimental modal tests and flight instrumentation   
*   Update and correlate forcing functions and FEM with flight and ground test data
*   Perform signal analysis of test data
*   Communicate results to relevant teams and leadership through any combination of analytical reports, design reviews, and presentations

**QUALIFICATIONS**

**Required**

*   Bachelor�s Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related field
*   2+ years of experience in structural dynamics, vibration, and/or launch vehicle dynamic analysis
*   Proficient with analytical simulation software such as FEMAP, NASTRAN, MATLAB
*   Proficiency with signal analysis in both time and frequency domains
*   Proficiency with random data and transient analysis (including shock SRS�s)

**RESPONSIBILITIES:**

*   Act as liaison between the machine shop and the engineering team.
*   Provide feedback to responsible engineers and ensure the most time-efficient and cost-efficient method of producing components
*   Deliver rocket components from CAD models to tangible components/assemblies ready for testing
*   Work with existing and identify new vendors to support external manufacturing processes
*   Research new manufacturing methods and production related processes
*   Research and identify new materials for improved production efficiency and final product performance
